Did you read the recent article in Vet Times about the vn starting up vn only clinic in London?

I think its a great idea in theory - but will clients expect mini vets + expect more for less?

We will have to see how it goes.

Good for her though - it should raise the profile for vns at least + I imagine other vns will follow in her footsteps.

What do you all think of this? vns and vets opinions woudl be interesting on this one....

To all Veterinary Nurses,

I really do believe we are under used and under valued in a veterinary practice. I was a deputy head nurse for a large group in one of the main branches and found i got to the stage that developent for me within a veterinary clinic was limited. At this point i had also become assessor and was training student veterinary nurses..i also think that all im doing in my veterinary nurse clinic is no more than i would in a vet clinic.I will be providing that extra care in preventative health care and advising on general health. If ever i pick up anything in my consults that need veterinary treatment or consultation i have a vet that is located down the road literally..for referals.

i really hope we can fight to get our status more recognised by the RCVS and the public eye!!

good Luck, Hina

Many concepts may not appeal all in the beginning but if determination is strong and motive is honest, success is sure.

The clinic is picking up slowly..you have bad days and good days just like any new business or infact an existing business may have.

i believe it will take time to build upon the public mentally and educate owners on preventative health care, but im sure i can achieve this all in good time.

The public are responding to it well, however you do have to explain what i am all about, but once they know they think its a great idea!!

The survey results:

Vet Nurse only clinics

I think this is a great idea 50.00%
It is potentially a good idea - but I see problems 25.00%
I believe it is a ridiculous idea 0.00%
Time will tell - lets see how successful it is 25.00%
I have answered in the forums 0.00%

Please note - the photo featured with this article on the home page is not Hina!

Although if Hina would like to add photos of her/her practice we would be chuffed. Wink

I wish you every success in your new venture.

What is your average clinic appointment ATV? and how many of these do you need to do a day to break even?

I love the idea but can't get the figures to stack up finacially as obviously as VN's we can't sell/do a lot of what the vet does in our clinics and most he items we do sell don't have the same profit margin.

I am very interested in the whole model.

Cheers

To be honest the appointments need buildng upon and the clinic is working on doing that..however majority off your break even figures will come from other services you can provide and by having a shop...

hope everyone is well..last month definately has picked up..but the weather doesnt help!!
