Vet Thinking jenvetnurse writes "Have you ever worked with a ‘dodgy’ vet?
There are many out there – which is worrying for staff, clients but mostly for the animals. Clients leave their beloved pets with us in complete trust – but do they know what goes on behind the scenes in some practices?

A vet in Kent has recently been struck off the list maintained by the RCVS. Mr Swift has been found guilty in court for 6 indiscretions.
He was found to be using medicines inappropriately. He was found to be unprofessional in the treatment of one of his feline patients. He indecently assaulted a minor in practice.
It is awful how some vets can bring shame to the profession as a whole.

I realise this is one isolated case but I have heard of others – last year a vet was struck off for stamping on a hamster in front of the owners and their kid! It was deliberate because the hamster bit him.

I have heard of an incidence where a vet kept a cat in the surgery for 6 months. At least that’s what he told the owner. When the owner starting complaining and asking to visit he admitted the cat died on the first night of its stay! He admitted in court that he was trying to find a similar cat to pass it off as the same one! Shocking isn’t it.

I know many lovely, caring, skilled vets but during several years locuming I have met vets who simply don’t care. It is a shame – please tell us your stories.
To be allowed access to the Veterinary Forums you need to be invited by myself – if you are a vet/nurse or receptionist. I will add those I know to be vettie – if you wish to access these forums please email me. This is so that the veterinary discussions are private from the general public so we can discuss at our leisure.
