Fireworks
Posted on Sunday, October 31 @ 18:20:38 GMT by jenvetadmin

Dog News jenvetnurse writes "It’s that time of year again unfortunately when so called ‘Fireworks Night’ becomes fireworks month. They seem to go on longer each year. So many pets are distressed by them and some are terrorised by them.
How is the best way to cope? Well there is a desensitising cd available which teaches your dogs to learn to cope with the sounds and accept them in a fearless way go to: fearoffireworks.com
The pheromone releasing diffusers are beneficial to provide a calming environment. D.A.P diffusers for dogs and feliway Diffusers for cats. Valium I believe is the recommended sedative to be given if required rather than ACP as was once prescribed.
Distraction is the key to coping with the noises also. Pull the curtains early and put music/television on and play/reassure/pet your cat or dog to comfort them.
Do not forget about the small furries – they can die from the shock/fear of firewoks. They should be securely indoors or inside a shed/garage and have ample bedding for warmth and security.
Check out the RSPCA home page
I hope this years fireworks events do not cause to much stress for your pets this year.
