CASE STUDY - BILATERAL ABDOMINAL HERNIA
Posted on Wednesday, August 15 @ 16:32:53 BST by jenvetadmin

Horse An adult donkey with the history of fall from height (with load) and large swellings on both side of abdomen was presented at for treatment.
It was referred from a nearby hospital. Upon careful examination and investigation the case was diagnosed as lateral abdominal hernia (on both the affected sides).
The hernial sac, hernial contents and hernial rings were easily palpable. The hernias were reducible. The vets at the clinic decided to correct it surgically on the next day.
The following it was operated on the left side under sedation and local anesthesia. The animal was given fluid therapy, antibiotics and analgesics.

The operation for the right side was carried out successfully the following morning. The course of analgesics, antibiotics and daily antiseptic dressing was prescribed for one week. The case is reported to be recovering normally.
