new labels for staff in practice
Posted on Friday, July 27 @ 20:45:51 BST by jenvetadmin

vn in practice jenvetnurse writes "It is very difficult for many to find Veterinary placements to begin training as a Veterinary Nurse – it is now even harder as many VN vacancies are being filled by recently qualified vets.

Many foreign vets are waiting to sit RCVS exams and come here to improve their veterinary skills and their English.

In the past there has been talk of VNs becoming ‘mini-vets’ and now many are saying these vets are ‘super-nurses’.

These are labels which are appropriate but remember both vets and nurses have received training to fill a specific role. It is a worrying situation when a person is employed to fill a role which may not be suitable.

Let’s discuss this in the forums – have you worked with/as a ‘mini vet’ or ‘super nurse’?
