Hydrotherapy is recommended by many vets for a variety of conditions including
hip dysplasia, arthritis, muscle degeneration, paralysis, strokes, orthopaedic and neurological conditions..
Hydrotherapy works well because the dog is weightless. Using the movement of the warm water and gentle massage techniques can improve muscle tone and encourage tendon repair. It also provides pain relief, is an excellent form of exercise and increases stamina.
Most dogs really enjoy these therapeutic sessions – some can be afraid initially but with patient handling people I have spoken to swear by hydrotherapy and definite results can be seen.
Please respond in the forums if you have any experience with Hydrotherapy.
