"HONEY CYSTS" is the another name for large salivary cysts that occur mostly in dogs as a result of accumulation of saliva/mucus due to blockade of mucus/salivary glands' ducts.
The cause can be anything like sialoliths, trauma, infection, growths etc. Their location can be sublingual (Ranula), cervical or pharyngeal.
Treatment consists of partial or complete surgical removal of cyst/sublingual salivary gland (depending upon the cause and severity of the condition) along with antibiotic and anti-inflammatory therapy. "
