The animals that go out for grazing in pastures may have to face certain unwanted intruders in their nostrils-----LEECHES!!
The most commonly affected animals that come to me for such problem are either cattle or sheep. Leeches enter their nostrils while they take water from the natural sources. These blood sucking things get attached inside with a bite. They secrete an anticouagulant which causes bleeding from the nostrils. When these haemophagics start getting filled with blood, they may cause dyspnoea in the host.
Many a times leeches fall off when they become full with blood.
Otherwise the case is presented to vets for removal."
